Ryan was one popular stud on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University. His radio station "On the fly with Ry" wasn't the only thing that we loved about him. His confidence, sweet spirit, love for God and contagious laugh are just a few qualities we all admired about him. I can't think of one person that isn't completely captivated by Ryan's big heart for people. One special girl, noticed these qualities and more. They met though Ryan's sister Nicole and Desiree knew from the first time she set eyes on him, he was the one. They got to know each other as school carried on and although they only admitted they were "just friends" for a long time, they knew in their hearts there was something greater planned for the both of them. I finally had the opportunity of meeting Desiree as Ryan became more serious about this beautiful girl. I knew she had to be someone special, and she definitely is. I have never met anyone that is more excited about life than Desiree. I fell in love with her spirit and heart and couldnt be happier Ryan found such an awesome girl. my favorite thing about Desiree is how excited she gets to see you EVERYTIME!. She is definitely sugar to my life! Ryan called me last year and mentioned he wanted to set up THE proposal! He wanted me to photograph the day and I wouldnt have missed it for the world. Last August, Ryan slipped Desiree's grandmothers ring on her finger and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. I have to admit, I definitely let out a few tears watching it all unfold.
I was so honored to have been a part of the wedding this past May. The ceremony and reception was held at the beautiful Paradise Gardens in Oceanside. It was so much fun spending the day with old friends and watching two beautiful people begin their lives together. Click HERE for a slideshow of the rest of the day! |

| Marissa and Angela did an AMAZING job on the florals ! Contact me for their information! |

| This was the BEST part! Ryan came out with "tools" to help him find the garter. Hilarious! |

I became a photographer about four years ago. I'm not really sure I "became" a photographer or if I had the talent all along. The furthest back I can remember loving photography are the model shots I took as a kid. I loved to get together with my girlfriends and carelessly paint each others faces with what we thought was a fabulous makeup job. We took photos for hours in our backyards with my moms 35mm camera and waited anxiously at walmart for the film to be developed so we could see our pretty little faces on a piece of shiny paper. I never really was that girl that read all the magazine articles and soaked up all the news in the newspaper, but I was the girl that was enamoured by all the photographs next to the long articles that never seemed to interest me. Don't get me wrong, I love reading but sometimes photos are just better.
Cinematography was always my favorite. Not only did I fall in love with romantic story lines but I was hooked by the way film could make everything seem so much better. Everything just looked more graceful and vibrant on film. I was and still am such a sappy movie watcher. I would get pulled into each character role and imagine what it was like to fall in love with Noah Calhoun and Jack Dawson. (If you don't know what characters these are, I suggest you look them up.)
I never put a finger on what I wanted to do through college until I took my first photojournalism class. After my first class, I knew I was in the right place at the right time. I thought about all the avenues of photography but discovered wedding photography was the best route for me. I can't think of anything better than to spend time with a group of people in love. I've been through what artists know as highs and lows of photography. Its been exciting and tough discovering who I want to be as a photographer. Through it all, there has always been one thing that has remained constant. I continually fall deeply in love with soaking up other peoples joy and figuring out ways to see love differently through my lens. It seems all my movie watching, magazine reading and model shots, all seemed to play a role throughout my life without even realizing it. Because I feel I am in the place I am supposed to be, doing what I feel I am meant to do, I think it's time to give back. SO, I decided I want to give a FREE wedding to the most deserving couple.
Although I wish I could shoot everyones wedding for free, life doesn't quite allow that to be possible but I can do it once!
Here are the rules :
*The wedding must be in 2010.
*I must be available on your date.
*I will travel ANYWHERE but all travel must be paid for (the only expense)
*I will provide my services completely free!
*Has to be someone that has not already inquired.
If anyone is interested, I would be HAPPY to send over what all this includes but FIRST you must leave a comment with your name, wedding date and location and e-mail me at stephanie@stephaniefay.com with WHY you feel you deserve this. The winner will be chosen based on the most deserving story. Be detailed and honest! I want everyone and anyone to submit an inquiry!
I can't wait to hear from everyone! I hope that I can give back to someone that truly deserves this! The WINNER will be announced on July 1, 2009.
I thought I would include a photo that I took during college. This photo still inspires me.

| Today I am off to shoot a beautiful wedding here in San Diego for some dear friends of mine. The weather is perfect and im pumped to be a part of another fabulous wedding! Before I head out for the day, I just HAVE to share with you a sneak peak of my new website I will be launching sometime this week :) Stay tuned! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday! |

| Some of you know that I am getting married this October and am OBVIOUSLY overly excited about it! I have had so much fun planning the big day and all the tiny details are finally pulling together. One important detail I was excited to work on was the save the date and invitation design. I really wanted to find the perfect designer to help me combine all my floating ideas together. After doing some research, stumbling upon many different blogs, I finally found the one I liked the best. Steve and I really want our wedding to be really vintage and I LOVE the look of anything "anthropologie". I googled something along the lines, "vintage, anthropologie save the dates" and Daniel's website displayed just what I was looking for. I loved all the corky, simple and creative designs Dan has done and I knew he would have some great ideas. I really want to spotlight Dan this week because he has done such a wonderful job on the card and has been so easy to work with. He worked on a few different designs and I loved them all. The postcard seems to fit our personality the best and I am very pleased with the outcome!!! Be sure to check out the interview I had with Dan. He is not only super talented but also extremely nice. If any of you guys are looking for some help with save the dates, invitations or simply a design, be sure to check him out. |

Q : What got you interested in graphic design? (How did you get stared?)
A : The first time I remember making a connection to art was in the second grade. My teacher asked our class to draw a picture of what we wanted to be when we grew up, and i spent the whole day making an illustration of myself as a scientist in a lab mixing up concoctions with chemicals in various beakers, and bunson burners... I spent so long on this drawing I completely neglected all of my other subjects...including science. Something clicked and everything else fell away... (Side note : I ended up completely failing 2nd grade that year with only one decent grade on my report card, an A+ in art) should have known then that i was destined, if not by talent, by sheer default to have an artistic career.
As a teenager I discovered comic books, and spent countless hours drawing my favorite super heros. My supportive and sympathetic parents could see that I was obsessed and consigned themselves to the fact that I was not law school bound, and enrolled me in an amazing art school called Barnstone Studios. this school and its amazing (and extremely disciplined) instructor, Myron Barnstone changed my life. It was there that I realized a career in visual art was even possible. |

Q : How long have you been doing graphic design?
A: I studied graphic design at Philadelphia University and graduated in 2001. While in school, I worked for two fanitastic small design firms in Philadelphia. (Baseman Design and Flux Labs) I made some great connections and long lasting friendships there.
Q: What artist inspires you the most?
A: I can find graphic inspiration in anything from a bowl of potatoes, to the music and lyrics of artists like Bob Dylan and Townes Van Zandt. I try to stay tuned in to these things as much as possible so I can pull inspiration from my life.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your line of work?
A: I have always loved to doodle, which is the first stage of designing anything... I really enjoy being able to satirize my life through design, doodling silly things on bar coasters until i can make myself and my friends laugh. It's nice to have a useful skill in this world.
Q: What do you feel sets you apart from other designers?
A: There are so many amazing designers working today, it is difficult to stand out. what i hope my work says to people is I'm having fun making it.
After graduating, I joined a then small brand of Urban Outfitters called Anthropologie in their brand new graphic design department, which consisted of just me. One of my first projects was to redesign the brand logo, a pretty intimidating task for my first project at my first full time job, but somehow the president of the company liked my design and the rest is history .. Ive been with the company every since.
In 2008, I joined the Urban Outfitters graphic design division and have been working on in house apparel branding, mens and womens tee shirts graphics and packaging since then.
Q: What has been your favorite project?
A: At the moment my favorite project is a set of wood burned alphabet blocks I am making for my newborn daughter Charley Mae. Each letter is part of a custom designed front made especially for her. I am hoping this block set becomes a family heirloom someday.
|

Q: What are your future goals for your business?
A: At the moment I am happy to be employed doing something that I would be doing anyways, something I truly enjoy. Ultimately, I would like my business Grayhood, to become its own design/illustration studio.
Q: What's an interesting or funny fact about you that you'd like to share?
A: The name grayhood designs come from my personal attachment to my grey hooded sweatshirt, my daily uniform since early childhood. Much like Linus and his security blanket, my trusty hoodie has seen me through most all my life.

They met in second grade. They probably flirted at recess or intentionally teased each other with mischievous smiles under the monkey bars. They were classmates, destined to fall in love. After the second grade, Kristin and her family moved to Colorado and both Matt and Kristin, carried on happily through school living their separate lives.
All grown up, they carried on to college not knowing they would meet again through mutual friends. "I didn't really remember him" Kristin said. "I didn't remember a lot of the kids from elementary school, but he remembered me! We are actually standing behind each other in our second grade class photo." They began dating and have been together ever since.
Last weekend, Kristin and Matt were married at the Tubac Golf Resort in Tubac, Arizona. One interesting fact about Tubac is the history of the location. Tubac is the oldest European settlement in Arizona. It was so beautiful to see the old mission down the road from the resort.
I first met Kristin and Matt last year to discuss the upcoming wedding and I absolutely LOVED their personalities together. I couldn't ask for more of a laid back, enjoyable, and not to mention GORGEOUS couple to photograph.
The details, the guests, and the location made this wedding a blast to be a part of. One special detail about this wedding is the wedding dress Kristin chose to wear. The dress was originally designed in Paris, specifically for Kristin's Grandma by mr. Bergdorf himself. Kristin's Grandma so graciously wore this dress and passed the cherished keepsake to Kristin's mom. As it was time for the third generation to carry the tradition, Kristin proudly wore the perfectly woven dress to marry the man of her dreams in. it was perfect.
I just want to thank both Matt and Kristin for giving me the honor to document your wedding day. You two have been wonderful and I have loved getting to know the both of you. Click HERE to see a slideshow of the rest of the day. |

| The beautiful antique store Panchos, located inside the resort, was gracious enough to allow Kristin and Matt to use a few of the items for the ceremony. The details were gorgeous. |
